The Handelsblatt Research Institute surveyed more than 1,250 lawyers from 152 law firms as part of the ranking. Individual lawyers have named the most prestigious law firms and lawyers in their field of law. Following the survey, a jury of experts reviewed and analysed the applications before finally selecting 23 law firms with 27 lawyers recommended for data protection. The WirtschaftsWoche Best of Legal Awards recognise the most innovative law firms in the German legal sector. Winners will be selected by a high-calibre jury of corporate lawyers, media representatives and other industry experts. The annual awards, organised by WirtschaftsWochenmagazin and supported by the Handelsblatt Research Institute, recognise innovations in the German legal industry. It`s a difficult balancing act: among the 100 or so legal-tech start-ups that currently exist in Germany, many also offer software that helps law firms do their jobs faster and cheaper. Watson, IBM`s supercomputer, invents cooking recipes: the user specifies ingredients and styles such as Asian or vegan – the machine invents a dish. This award highlights the strength of WilmerHale`s lawyers in the field of data protection law and highlights the outstanding work of the data protection team in Germany.
