I shipped 3 Honda motorcycles from Vietnam to New Jersey. One SS50 from 1964, two from 1967. Have copies of Vietnamese registrations and documents removed from the Vietnamese registration. New Jersey is a very long process with a lot of travel for the title process. Search No title status for 50cc. Vermont looked perfect, except I don`t think they handle 49/50cc bikes in that process. Do you have any suggestions, or are you just going through the lengthy process with New Jersey? The bike is legal on the road if it has the necessary equipment, as required by PA. You need insurance to make it work. I do not know of any insurance company that requires vehicle inspections. If there is an existing privilege on the bike, this must be done before you can title it and register it on your behalf – anywhere. Do I need a sales contract if it belongs to me? My brother is dead and the bike is mine and I have to do it. You can successfully walk through Vermont. However, if something appears during application processing that the bike is “Not for highway use” or something similar, they won`t do it.
Well, I didn`t want to give them the satisfaction of jumping through their bearocratic hoops. Especially when I had the original title in my father`s name and they almost implied that I had stolen the bike from myself or something. At least, that`s how I felt. All right. I bought a 1981 Honda Passport in 1998, but I never put the title to my name. I bought the bike when I was much younger and never rode it on the legal roads where it was rented. Now I`m older and I want to put him on the street legally. I`m not sure, but I think I might have a hard time calling it at BMV because it`s from 1998, so my question is: Can I send this title as proof of the purchase contract to Vermont? It will soon be a 15 year old motorcycle, but I think from what I`ve read here after 15 years, they just send you a registration, and then you can bring that registration to your home state and use it to get a title, since VT doesn`t issue titles for motorcycles over 15? Am I right? In this case, where he is almost 15 years old, I wonder what should I do? You don`t need to take the bikes to Vermont. Simply follow the registration steps above and submit all your forms, documents, and fees. Would VT work in this case? It will be impossible for VA to give me a title on this bike. Do you have any idea how a mass resident registering with VT would get insurance? Or should I bring the bike back to MA and buy insurance? What about a 07 YZ450? What does VT do if the age is no more than 15 years? I did the above process with my KTM 03 and it worked very well, but a 07th. What is the process for newer bikes? I went to CA DMV with the purchase agreement and a transfer of ownership request.
The bike comes from the DMV system, which was last registered in 1989. I couldn`t get a new title. If I go with Vermont`s registration, would I have a problem naming it in California, or would I be in the paperwork up to my neck again? The prerequisite is 300cc or less or 15 years or older. VT will only register bikes approved for the street. Don`t I have to ask the guy I bought the bike to sign section 3b? Is the purchase contract sufficient? I registered a 1973 CL450 with Vermont and received a license plate with a copy of my form submitted with their employees` annotations. The Louisiana DMV causes me grief because the bike is 445cc and I don`t have a Vermont title. Does the title usually come separately or did Vermont DMV spoil it? 4/2022 – The VT recording had to be renewed, so I thought I would try the MI SOS again. “I want to transfer my motorcycle registration from VT to MI.” “Do you have a title?” “No, here is my insurance and registration, VT does not issue titles for motorcycles older than 15 years.” She checks her system and says, “This vehicle has an MI title last issued 10 years ago and it`s a 2-wheeler, not a motorcycle.” I said, “Well, it`s legal on the street at the time and it was registered as a motorcycle with VT.” “Do I have to do any paperwork to prove that there is a roadside approval here at MI?” She gets up and goes to the big rulebook while I`m standing there thinking about putting street tires on it and taking it to the police station for inspection. He confirms that VT does not issue titles over 15 years. Issue me a licence plate, a registration and an application for a new MI designation. $43 and I`m out. The only downside was that they bought it from someone they knew in Cali who couldn`t find the original title. I went to the local dmv here in Michigan but they told me untitled, I was SOL started digging and found this. I put all my papers in order. If the local sheriff came and did the VIN inspection. The bike is not listed as stolen or anything, but he said it was a salvage title in Cali and I had a lot more tyres to go through to bring it to a rebuild title here in MI. Does anyone know if I`m sending the stuff from Vermont, if they mark it for it, or will I still be good since it`s over 15 years old? However, a search in the state of FL reports that lien holders of a defunct purchase pay here, would the Vermont DMV see the lien or could I still register this bike in VT? I live in New York and need to register my bike that doesn`t have a title, will Vermont do this if I live in New York, or do I need to have an address there?
