If GW offers you funding, you will receive a letter from the university detailing the exact amount of funding you will receive. If the funding is sufficient to cover all expenses for the duration of your program, you do not need to provide additional proof of funding. If the funding program is less than the total amount, you must have your own funding or that of another sponsor to make up the difference. Please note that a completed visa application form (PDF) is required, even if you are fully funded by GW. International students enrolling in one of the programs will need a visa qualification document, either an I-20 Form for an F-1 visa or a Form DS-2019 for a J-1 visa. The International Services Office (ISO) provides support and information to GW`s international students, scientists and lecturers. Some of the services ISO offers to international members of the GW community include: International applicants who require a GW I-20 or DS-2019 visa must provide a financial certificate confirming funding sources. You must contact our admissions office to request the form. Funds must be certified in U.S. currency and must not be based on employment in the U.S. during university studies.
Applicants who have not graduated from a regionally accredited U.S. institution must submit TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language), International English Language Testing Service (IELTS) or Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE) results. Please check with your admissions office for minimum score requirements. Applicants applying to graduate programs may be deprived of their English proficiency if they have obtained (or will be acquired) a post-secondary degree from an institution located in a country where English is the only language of instruction. Applicants who wish to be considered for an English proficiency exemption may be asked to take an English course for academic purposes, which may increase the duration and cost of their studies. The EAP program helps international students who speak English as an additional language to develop their academic and professional skills in written communication. If you are an international student who wishes to apply for a graduate program at GW, you must go through the same application process and submit the same general application materials as your peers, as well as some additional requirements. Please note that international students are generally not admitted to our summer sessions. Unofficial copies of your transcripts or academic records must be updated in your online application account. Carefully review your program`s admission requirements to determine which specific documents you need to include in your download. If you believe you are eligible for a waiver, please complete the exemption request form in English. Your application will be reviewed on an ongoing basis once your application and transcripts have been submitted. All international applicants must either submit an English language exam or apply for an exemption before the application deadline. Requests for exemptions will be reviewed within one week of submission for approval. International students must follow the same admission procedure for students and the same admission procedure for graduates as all other applicants, but must also submit additional documents. Completed applications must be submitted within the following deadlines. These deadlines are at least two (2) months before the deadline for submission of the complete visa application and financial certificate documents to the GW International Services Office (ISO).
